About the Recipe

Podcast Guest Ashli Montgomery shares her Grandma Syble's famous recipe!

Ingredients

• 2 cups sugar

• SMALL (5 oz.) can PET Evaporated Milk

• 12 LARGE marshmallows

• 6 ounces peanut butter chips

• 1 stick oleo (margarine)

• 1 cup unsalted, dry roasted peanuts

• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Step 1:

Mix sugar, PET milk, and marshmallows in a stock pot. Bring to hard boil. Stir continuously at a hard boil for six minutes. Mixture will caramelize and darken to the color of peanut butter. Remove from heat.

Step 2:

Add peanut butter chips, oleo, peanuts, and vanilla. Mix until melted.

Step 3:

Pour into buttered casserole dish. Cool completely. Cut into small, bite-sized squares.

Note from Ashli: It occurred to me that we Americans have “supersized” PET Evaporated Milk. I Googled to discover my “small” can is 12 ounces whereas my grandmother’s “small” can was only 5 ounces. Make sure to measure 5oz to get the right consistency.
